Once again Surrey Voices join with St James’s Special Choir and with the Lewisham Concert Band

The service will take place in the courtyard at St James’s, where 100 years ago outdoor services and concerts were regularly held, and will be followed by a concert by the band and refreshments for everyone.

ALL ARE WELCOME In the event of bad weather, it will transfer into the church.

CHRISTMAS ORATORIO for ALL

Congregational rehearsal (optional) 6.30. Music provided for anyone who can use it.

ADMISSION FREE The performance will be finished before 8.30, and will be followed by seasonal refreshments of mulled wine and mince pies.

By popular demand, we are giving a fourth performance of this specially arranged version of Bach’s masterpiece. It is performed in English.

  • The biblical Christmas story is narrated by an actor
  • All the exciting choruses are sung by the choir – Surrey Voices with St James’s Special Choir
  • Everyone is invited to join in singing the chorales, as was the practice in Bach’s own performances
  • Four of the beautiful solos are sung
